Terrae Genesis - geology and mineralogy center

Terrae Genesis is located on the edge of the Voie verte des Hautes Vosges, between Remiremont and Vagney, on a historic site linked to granite (the cobblestones of Paris).

This geology and mineralogy museum is a crossroads of knowledge and discovery, where amateurs and professionals meet. It comprises four departments: mineralogy, petrology (the study of rocks), paleontology and the history of granite working.

To discover on site:

• An exceptional collection of over 2000 minerals from the Vosges and around the world, one of the richest mineralogical exhibitions in France. With a black light room, the Moineaudière collection and the famous ghost quartz.
• In petrology, the history of the Earth and the Vosges with an exhibition of 900 rocks. And above all, the oldest rock on Earth (4.388 billion years old), a world exclusive.
• A vast exhibition of over 500 fossils tracing the history of life on Earth, including the unique footprint of a Vosges dinosaur.
• The history of granite in the Vosges with the old forging, polishing and cutting workshops, as well as the machines and tools of the time.
• A store selling jewelry, minerals, stones and fossils. Original creations, souvenirs, gifts and bookshop.
• Conferences with renowned speakers.
• During school vacations, workshops for children aged 5 and over on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm. Clay or hieroglyphics workshop, by reservation.

Open all year for groups and schools, by appointment only.
