At the summit of the Col du Brabant, stands a small chapel steeped in mystery and legend. Two tales are passed down around a singular cross embedded in one of its walls. The first legend tells of a young shepherd who, in the midst of his herd of goats, spotted a mysterious doe. He identified it as the same doe that, according to tradition, had suckled the son of Countess Geneviève de Brabant. Touched by this unusual encounter, the shepherd chose this spot to come and pray regularly.

The second, more tragic legend tells of a young mother and child, lost and in distress one winter's evening in the vicinity of the Col du Brabant. Seeking refuge, they knocked on doors, but none opened to welcome them. The next morning, the inhabitants were horrified to discover the lifeless bodies of the woman and her child. Deeply affected by this tragedy, they decided to erect a cross in memory of these two lost souls.

The Col du Brabant and its chapel have thus become places steeped in history and emotion, where visitors can soak up these ancient tales while enjoying an exceptional panorama of the Vosges landscape. When exploring this destination, legend enthusiasts and nature lovers alike will find a stopover here as symbolic as it is soothing.
