The artificial fish farming was discovered by Joseph REMY (inhabitant of La Bresse) and Antoine GEHIN (inhabitant of Ventron).

On the "Place du Champtel" in the center of La Bresse, there is a fountain representing a trout head and a memorial plaque honoring Joseph REMY.
